Covenant of Peace Fundraiser
Our mission is to change the culture of those responsible for the care, custody, and treatment of all children, especially children of color using culturally sensitive approaches that work.
The Covenant of Peace is an anti-violence initiative dedicated to addressing the systemic issues in and around violence. We believe that youth are not AT RISK but are Children of Promise.
NCJJR is committed to change the culture of those responsible for the care, custody, and treatment of all children, especially children of color using culturally sensitive approaches that work. Reforming the juvenile justice system will better address the needs of young offenders, emphasizing rehabilitation over punishment.
The reform aims to:
-
Reduce Recidivism: Implement programs that prevent reoffending by focusing on the underlying causes of delinquent behavior, such as trauma, substance abuse, and lack of education.
-
Promote Rehabilitation: Shift the focus from punitive measures to rehabilitative services, including counseling, education, and skill development, to help juveniles reintegrate into society as productive members.
-
Ensure Fairness and Equity: Address disparities in the system, ensuring that all juveniles, regardless of race, gender, or socioeconomic status, receive fair treatment and equal access to resources.
-
Protect Youth Rights: Safeguard the legal rights of juveniles during their interactions with the justice system, ensuring that they are treated with dignity and respect.
-
Enhance Public Safety: By addressing the root causes of juvenile delinquency and reducing recidivism, the reform contributes to safer communities.

How You Can Help
The National Center has identified two communities in SE DC who have maintained a historical "beef" between one another costing the lives of both perpetrators and victims.
NCJJR's goal is to establish peace between these two communities using the 7 PILLARS OF THE COVENANT OF PEACE.
